A multi-site project delivering external thermal insulation to residential, administrative and educational buildings, carried out over 2024 and 2025.
Nature of the works
The project covered the installation of a complete external thermal insulation system across the building facades — from preparing and treating the substrate, through fixing the insulation layers and the reinforcement mesh, to the final coat and the colour finish.
Why external thermal insulation?
Insulating from the outside is the most efficient approach thermally, because it wraps the building in a continuous envelope that breaks the thermal bridges at columns, beams and slab edges — the very points where heat escapes even in buildings insulated from within. It also preserves the internal floor area of the units in full, and protects the concrete frame from seasonal temperature swings.
Conditions of execution
The works were carried out in a cold climate, which imposes strict limits on application temperatures and on drying time between coats. Metal scaffolding with safety netting was used throughout the period of work, to protect both the crews and passers-by.
